Invest for the long term

Always invest for the long term as it gives more profit.

And always invest when the market is low as the price of the share or fund or bond is low.

There is clearly much to be said for the world of value investing. An ability to buy at beneficial times (either when the markets are falling but the trading of a company is not impacted or when a company is being harshly judged by the market) and then hold for long periods of time (probably multiple years) until the stock market value of the company has recovered is a well-worn route.

An ability to do this - which many of us do not have - can provide what Warren Buffett has often described in the past as the three most important words in investment - a margin of safety. If you can do that, and do it consistently, you too might become a billionaire!
